Aims and Activities

The Summer School for Pianists organises and runs a week of piano masterclasses and concerts each summer, thereby promoting, improving and advancing public music education.

In addition to the masterclasses, presentations, and performance opportunities for course participants, it promotes piano recitals during the course open to members of the public at affordable ticket prices, which include free tickets for accompanied children, and ‘Teacher Taster’ days, when local piano teachers can spend a day at the course for their own professional development at a reduced fee.

The Summer School also collects for other charities, during the week of the course, via the sale of second-hand music and CDs. Recent charitable donations have been given to Oxfam and to CCAA – Kids with Arthritis.
